Rosatom's fuel company TVEL contracted to supply fuel components for a research reactor in Egypt
The Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (PJSC NCCP, an enterprise of Rosatom's Fuel Company TVEL) and the Egyptian Atomic Energy Organization (EAEA) signed contract documents for the supply of low-enriched nuclear fuel components to Egypt. The signing took place at the Atomexpo international forum in Sochi.
The cooperation is carried out under a long-term contract for export to Egypt of nuclear fuel components for the ETRR-2 reactor. The product range includes uranium components, as well as aluminum alloy and aluminum powder products. The delivery will be made in 2023. In addition, another batch of products will be delivered to Egypt by the end of 2022 in accordance with previously signed contract documents.
The ETRR-2 research reactor located at the national Egyptian Nuclear Research Center in the city of Inshas is used for scientific research in particle physics, materials science, and radioisotope production. The prospects for the development of JSC TVEL's business in the Egyptian market are also related to the supply of nuclear fuel for the future El Dabaa NPP (the relevant contract entered into force in 2017).
